3M developed the Ultra-Clear Solar Film that reduces solar radiation by up to 34 percent with minimal reduction of visible light. Sandwiched between outer and inner glass, the high-clarity, solar film reduces heat streaming through the glass by selectively blocking infrared light, using 3M’s Multilayer Optical Film technology. The film is especially beneficial for retailers who require clear view of merchandise in storefronts or façade designs that maximize natural light. The clear, low reflective film is compatible with tinted, coated and other types of glass. Because the 3M Ultra-Clear Solar Film contains no metal, it won’t corrode or interfere with radio frequencies of electronic devices. The film can be used with curved glass designs, and works with polyvinyl butyral, ethylene-vinyl acetate, and SentryGlas Plus interlayers.
